The seeds of the greater plantain, which must be harvested ripe and in dry weather, to the delight of pet birds. The constituents of the plantain (pectin, aucubine, ampigénine, flavonoids, tannins, sulfur, calcium, iron, phosphorus, mucilage...) make it a plant of the very many indications. The aucubine accelerates the elimination by the kidneys and has anti-microbial properties; the ampigénine is an anti-inflammatory and mucilages, slow down the appetite and activate the intestinal transit. The plantain is also concentrated in vitamins of the B group (B1, B2 and PP) and vitamin A.
